ITS co-founder, Susan Sammons, has a strong connection to the critical mission of the OQ industry, as both her mother and uncle were students of Texas’ New London School in 1937 when it experienced a massive gas explosion, which killed 295 students and teachers. Fortunately for Susan’s family, her mother and uncle had both stayed home from school that day, but the deadly impact of that incident still left its mark on them and on Susan. 

Decades later, in 1989, she and the late Dr. Paul Lyons partnered with the Kentucky Gas Association to help with their compliance needs and became the pioneers of the OQ solutions industry. Over the years, we have helped the energy industry evolve from its early pencil, paper, and file cabinet-based solutions by providing innovative technologies and the industry’s most robust and comprehensive OQ solution, helping clients maintain safe work environments and stay ahead of regulatory compliance.

Susan eventually passed the ITS company reins onto her children, who are equally committed as her to its important purpose and who are now leading the company and our clients into the future. Today, with a leadership team that brings 110+ years of combined OQ compliance experience to serving our clients, we are a recognized industry leader. Our DOT/PHMSA compliance solutions for the natural gas, liquids, and propane segments, support clients across the US, including some of the world’s largest energy providers. And our commitment to supporting our clients’ OQ needs and missions remains steadfast.
